MoveIt Taking a Stand Against Gun Violence
Breda, Iowa - For Immediate Release
The nation is still reeling from the recent school shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, TX.
In the United States, there have been over 200 mass shootings to date in 2022 and more than 45,000 killed by guns last year.
With more than 390 million guns in the United States and 20 million military assault weapons in civilian hands, the outlook is bleak. Without serious change and action, the numbers will continue to climb.
According to MoveIt CEO Todd Partridge, “MoveIt has a policy of never supporting political candidates, and we have never given money to any political party. Our involvement in the political and legislative process has been strictly limited to professional associations related to transportation and logistics.” He added that, “In our 43 years in business, we have supported many local, community and national initiatives to help those in need. We have also given (financially and otherwise) to support the growing number of environmental and conservation efforts.”
At MoveIt, we feel the epidemic of gun violence is a community issue. There is a very real chance that it could impact our employees, customers and partners.
Partridge announced that, effective immediately, MoveIt will take action by refusing to arrange logistics services for any company that manufactures or sells military-style assault weapons or any pro-gun lobby groups, like the National Rifle Association.
“Although this is, in part, a symbolic gesture,” said Partridge, “it is our hope to lead by example and to encourage others to do the same and speak out.” Additionally, he announced that the MoveIt Compaines would also be “giving a substantial donation to Sandy Hook Promise Foundation, which aims to end school shootings and ‘create a culture change that prevents violence and other harmful acts that hurt children.’”
