MoveIt® Teams Up with Electric Lady Studios

MoveIt® Specialized Logistics provided relocation services for the famous Electric Lady Studios, founded by Jimi Hendrix in Greenwich Village, NY.

The moves were part of an extensive remodel for the classic studio that has seen everyone from Kanye West to Elvis Presley. According to Studio Manager Lee Foster, MoveIt® was an integral part of the world class remodel. “The crews from MoveIt® were very professional and performed the difficult moves flawlessly.

A Fan Favorite

Many fans may know that the Electric Lady Studio studio was originally made for Jimi Hendrix. With large, round windows, it was designed have a relaxing feel to encourage creativity, but still have the necessities of a professional recording studio. Rumour has it that any drug use was prohibited during session work, and this was a steadfast rule. The studio was also painted in a psychedelic space theme.

What’s In the Box?

The shipments included one-of-a-kind vintage recording consoles that were restored to original specifications. Todd Partridge, Vice President of Operations for MoveIt® companies, said the difficult layout of the floor plan required “The larger console had to be tipped on end to navigate tight corners and a narrow stairway and the other piece of equipment was rigged through a 2nd story window. Not your typical freight and not your typical delivery!” He added that the MoveIt® Companies were especially proud to have played a part in the history of this cultural icon.
