MoveIt® Relocates to New Office
MoveIt® has moved its offices from downtown Breda to the eastern edge of town. The new building was designed by LEED certified architect John Shaw of Iowa City.
Focusing on the Environment
“We wanted a healthy building that fit in with the rural landscape, aesthetically, and with the smallest environmental impact possible.” Todd Partridge (Vice President of Operations) said. “John was able to design a space that is both productive, and a pleasing place to work.” The building was constructed with mostly recycled and renewable materials, like recycled steel siding, composite tiles made from recycled milk jugs, and cabinets made from post factory sunflower hulls.
Elizabeth Partridge-Blessington (CFO/Credit Manager) adds, “The building is designed to have an energy savings of 30 percent of conventional construction, and even though it is almost twice as big as our old building, our energy usage stayed about the same. “
Going Solar
MoveIt® recently started a solar energy feasibility study with a goal of having most of their electric usage generated by the sun. Plans also include a charging station for electric vehicles and further improvements to make the MoveIt® offices as environmentally friendly as possible.
The ability to adapt and continually look for new opportunities has allowed The MoveIt® Companies to enjoy steady growth. “For the first 10 years, we moved computers exclusively. Then, in the 90’s, we added medical equipment. Now computers are less than 10 percent of the products that we move.” Todd Partridge said. “With all of the changes in technology, and the inevitability of shipping drones and driverless trucks, the next 38 years will be interesting, but you can count on us to stay on the leading edge, and to continue to change as opportunities develop.”
